DIMENSIONS:
 6 ¼" Width x 9 ½" Height
  Weight: 1 lb. 13 oz.

DESCRIPTION:
In well-preserved condition, with only some minor cover surface wear, scuffs and slight weakening of the dark green cloth spine cover, located at the very top and very bottom of the spine. The volume's cover is otherwise intact and still largely undamaged, although it exhibits normal wear and tear, which would be considered to be in keeping with its antique pedigree and 120 year old age. The volume isn't plagued by interior paper foxing or tanning and all its pages are intact and complete, with no corner folds, tears, loss or stains. The gold gilt stamped cover and spine typography are nearly undiminished and undamaged, as well as the gold gilt stamped front cover graphic iconography of a Native American tribal basket, seen on the lower right of the cover. The book is a true 1st edition and was published by 'Printed Privately for the Author' (George Wharton James) Pasadena, California in 1901. The volume is ink signed by the author in printed calligraphic, cursive writing. The volume is profusely illustrated, with 300 various black and white photographs of Native Americans weaving baskets. There are also numerous photos of finished baskets, along with several diagrams and artist's drawings of baskets and basket production. A fantastic reference book on Native American basket weaving, its long, celebrated and storied history. Wonderful.

CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
