DESCRIPTION:
In extraordinary overall antique condition and incredibly well-preserved, it only suffers from a very small amount of loss on one of the thin, reeded rattan horizontal bands, which accept the food storage enclosed tray located directly above it, approximately 1/4" in length. Aside from this very small amount of damage, the 3-tiered, woven willow, highly decorative, late 19th to early 20th century Chinese antique 'wedding basket,' has an intricately carved splint rattan, large looping carrying handle, with highly realized figuration and vertical, triple-banded, reticulated, scrolled edges. The looping splint rattan large carrying handle features incised, highly decorative, reticulated brass corners, footings and fancy, ornate, double dragon, hinged brass top handle. The brass has its original, naturally aged patina and hasn't been chemically cleaned or polished. The finely woven willow sidewalls also still have their original sepia-brown painted finish which is lightly lacquered. There's woven willow accent trim. A truly exceptional late 19th to early 20th century Chinese antique wedding basket. Outstanding. Very fine.
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition
