DESCRIPTION
This is an authentic, signed/stamped Pitseolak Ashoona (Canadian Inuk, 1907-1983) vintage, framed color woodblock print of a musk ox. There are some slight abrasions on the paper's surface, resembling scuffs, which are slight imperfections in the paper. These incidences most likely occurred when the woodblock print was out-of-frame and vulnerable to scuffing while in an artist's portfolio or exposed and vulnerable while in print drawers. They are barely noticeable but since they exist, they needed to be mentioned. The color woodblock print doesn't suffer any more damage, be it water stains, creases, folds, permutations, smudges, soiling, foxing, tanning or any other condition issues. Pitseolak Ashoona is a Canadian national treasure and one of the most celebrated of all indigenous Canadian Inuit artists, active in the 20th century. She was a member of the Canadian Royal Academy of the Arts. She was awarded the most prestigious Order of Canada in 1977. Her prolific body of work is held in many public and private collections. Absolutely gorgeous and absolutely, resolutely original and authentic. Outstanding.
