DESCRIPTION:

Estate fresh and new to the marketplace. This absolutely wonderful and 100%, absolutely untouched, mid-19th century nautical oil painting on artist board, of a two-masted schooner sailing ship at sea, features a steamship bellowing black smoke from its stack in the distance, as well as several deck hands, working the schooner's ropes and canvas rigging. The oil painting's unsigned and not an American academic nautical oil painting but rather a regional, American antique primitive folk art painting. The painting is remarkably well-executed, with profuse details, while maintaining the work's folk art, primitive allure and charm. It comes still in its original wide-profile, deep, lemon gold gilt gessoed wooden frame, circa 1845 to 1865, just before or contemporary to the era of the US Civil War of the mid-19th century. The painting doesn't suffer from any appreciable color diminishment, noticeable surface abrasions, scuffs, pushes, stains, tanning or foxing. With original hanging wire and eye hooks on back. Really beautiful. Just a lovely mid-19th century American antique maritime artifact and American nautical folk art painting. Splendid. Very fine.
